Garters and flowers and shoes, oh my!

I've gotten SO MUCH done since I last posted. Our ceremony venue is good to go, and we will be putting the down payment on the restaurant where we are doing the reception next week.

Yesterday, I felt completely awful but I got so many things done. Early in the day I finished all four guests lists. Yes, four. One for the bridal party, one for the wedding ceremony, and one for each reception. I kind of feel like I'm being pretentious with the two reception thing, but if people really want to throw it for us I'm not going to stop them. So, two parties it is :) Plus, I will get to wear my wedding dress twice! Now, to start thinking about who I want at my bachelorette party... Guess I wasn't done with guest lists after all :(

In one shopping trip with Michelle and Amanda last evening, we purchased almost everything I've been stressing out over getting. All I have to buy at this point is my jewelery, which I have been putting off doing since I found a set I think I may want on the David's Bridal website, and my undergarments (so hating being well endowed right now). Here's just a little of what we picked up during our travels:

Can't wait to wear these with my dress! And..they were on clearance!

I wasn't feeling a plastic bride and groom at all, and had actually planned on doing something really silly involving dinosaur action figures. We ventured into the teacher store in the mall and found these, and they are absolutely perfect.

Tomorrow, we are getting our engagement photos done, I'm really hoping that the weather holds out for us, since we are doing them outside at Harkness. Krista, who is taking our photos does amazing work and I'm super excited for our photos after seeing the ones she has done for friends of ours in the past. Afterwards, if we have enough time/energy we are going to go and do our registry. I feel kind of awkward making a registry since we already live together, but people keep asking me about it, and the other night I realized that there are a few small things I'd like to have, or perhaps upgrade. I'm thinking of also creating a "honeymoon registry", where people can gift us different things for our honeymoon, like snorkeling tours and massages. Speaking of honeymoon, we booked ours tonight! We are going back to Dreams Cancun, where we visited last year. We loved it there, and its always nice to escape the cold of Connecticut for a little while.

Everything is falling into place perfectly, and I'm still rather amazed with myself that I've been able to piece together a wedding in under a month.

Until next time..

Back-Up Plans

Due to budgetary reasons, we have decided that our plans for a Cancun wedding are off. At first, this was pretty awful news for us, as it is what we had been planning all along, and our heart was set on the month of January, since it is when we are both free from school and before either of us enters into our careers. But, within a few days of deciding the destination wedding was off, we had a back up plan in motion.

I want to preface the rest of this post by asking that none of you take it personally if I've left you off of our guest list, especially for the ceremony. The venue we've chosen for the ceremony allows only ten guests (including bridal party), so we have decided to allow only our immediate family (and our Grandmas, since we both only having one left, we really want to share our day with them) and one attendant each to be with us when we say our vows. We DO plan on having a large reception with everyone who wishes to join us soon after we return from our honeymoon.

We will be doing the ceremony at Angel's Watch Inn in Westbrook, with a small reception following at Luigi's Restaurant down the street. The innkeepers at Angel's Watch Inn do small ceremonies like the one we have frequently, and I can't wait to work with them, I've heard so many good things! Mostly, I'm just happy to have a plan in motion.

My mind has only one setting lately, and its wedding, which is normal I assume, but oh so distracting. I've found myself laying awake at night pondering wedding bands (which we picked out last night), shoes (still no idea, but I think I want them to be my something blue!), and cake toppers (do we really need one of those? even the 'funny' ones are kind of awful). I'm trying to make lists and do one task at a time but I'm all over the place! I'm hoping that once the deposits are down on the inn and the restaurant I will relax a little..but I know I won't. Maybe when I order my dress on Tuesday :)

Until next time...

Hold the cheese, unless its fondue

So, as you all can tell I decided to start a blog to document our wedding planning. I honestly feel really cheesy doing so, but everyone keeps asking me how the planning is going and this is an easy way to keep everyone posted. Also, since we are planning in such a small amount of time, I'm afraid I'm going to miss taking in the details of everything, and figure that this will be something to look back on later.

For my first post, I wanted to talk about the proposal, since everyone has been asking me about it. Friday (September 30th) was our three year anniversary. I had known that Nick was getting me something good, as he seemed really excited about it and mentioned that he needed Mark's (his best friend) help to track it down. From the moment he said that, I immediately began going over the list of all the things I had asked for as an anniversary present in my head. Mind you, it was a long list full of mostly silly things. After ruling out things like a new Coach bag and scrubs, I made up my mind that it was a puppy. The day I had asked for a puppy, I was feeling rather down and thought it would be nice to have a dog to snuggle up with. But, once the idea became a possible reality in my head all I could think about was chewed shoes and freezing cold trips outside at ungodly hours so the dog could pee. I bugged Mark, and his fiancee' (and my best friend) Michelle to tell me what it was, and they only fueled by belief that it was a puppy.

Our anniversary rolled around, and we went out to The Melting Pot for dinner. Its a cute, kind of fancy fondue restaurant that we've made it a habit of visiting for special occasions. We ordered our drinks and our meals, and when the waiter left our table I began asking Nick for hints as to what he had gotten me. He had been acting kind of strange all day, and acted even stranger when I began asking questions, either stalling the conversation or shuffling around in the booth. He told me he had a picture of it in his pocket, and began rifling around in his pockets under the table while he asked me "how many puppies did you want?" Taken back by his strange question, I gave him a weird look then answered. He continued rifling around under the table and asked me what else I had wanted, I named off all the silly things on my list. Finally, I said "diamonds?" and Nick asked me how many. You think by now I would have gotten it, but I thought he was just messing with me, and about to give me a photo of a dog. But, instead he asked me "how many diamonds" when I told him only one, he replied "how's seven" and flipped open his hand to reveal my beautiful ring. I'm pretty sure he asked me to marry him somewhere in there, but truthfully I was too busy nervous laughing loudly for about two solid minutes to know. He slipped the ring on my finger, and we enjoyed a great meal :)

Tuesday night I took my first outing with my bridal party. I've chosen my best friend Michelle to be my maid of honor, another very good friend Amanda to be a bridesmaid, and my cousin and good friend Nikita to be my other bridesmaid. We had planned on getting together to only LOOK at bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses, but I ended up leaving having chosen both dresses for myself and them. I'm so lucky to have such a laid back group of girls in my wedding, I was so afraid that dress shopping would be miserable, but we had a great time.

It is getting late, and I'm getting exhausted. So, until next time folks..
