Decisions, decisions

Its been a little while, and I noticed I had a handful of recent page views, so I figured it was probably time to update this thing.

Everything is going really well in the Porter household..which may not be located in the same house for much longer. In November, our landlady told us she would be looking to sell our condo around October of this year. So, since things settled down from the wedding we have been weighing our options and keeping our eyes open for new options. We could, of course, put an offer on our current home. We love the condo itself, the convenience of the location, and we have the BEST neighbors. However, there isn't a ton of room for us to grow here. There's certainly plenty of room for us to add to our family here, but I couldn't imagine any more than three people living here. There is a condo across from us that is for rent for only a little more than we pay a month here. It has one more bedroom and one more bathroom as well as a garage. I love the floorplan- the living areas areas and a half bath are on the bottom floor, the two smaller bedrooms and the first bath on the second, and the master bedroom and bath on the third, with the garage in the basement. However, I worry about how I'm going to deal with getting to the third floor bedroom on my bad MS days. Since we do live on the second floor now though, I think I'd be able to make it work.

We were looking at homes for sale, but we can't seem to settle on the exact area where we'd like to live permanently. I'm really loving being so close to work, grocery stores, etc. Nick, on the other hand, desperately wants to move back to a small country town and dreams of a home with no neighbors in sight. So, there's going to be a lot of negotiations before we're ready to buy. At this very moment, it looks like we will search for a piece of land while we continue to rent. Then, once we find the perfect place, we will build the house of our dreams. Of course we could end up changing our minds all together, though! :)

Luckily, we will soon enough be able to start saving lots of money to make these dreams come true. Nick got the job he wanted at the power plant! I'm so excited for him to start, and for us to be able to start saving. I myself am searching for an externship for my medical assisting program right now. I want to at least finish my program, but I'm still not quite sure if I will go on to work in that field once I am through. As much as I enjoy the medical field, I make just as much money working 20 hours a week waiting tables as I would working 40 hours a week as a medical assistant. Of course, it would be nice to have guaranteed hours and income, and benefits..but I'm not sure I would really need the latter two with Nick's job. I'd also have more time to go back to school if I stay waiting tables..if I can decide what I want to go back for. The plan was to go for nursing, but I've recently taken interest in the non-profit field and am considering a degree in non-profit management. I'm considering taking just a class in each degree topic for a semester or two, just to get my feet wet so I can make a more informed decision.

Looks like we have a lot of decisions to make around here!

Until next time..
